You're looking at a "grace" note: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_note


My usual approach is to pretend it isn't there for starters and just play the plain 4th fret of the D string on beat 4. The grace note adds "colour" to the note it precedes but doesn't change its timing. This video hopefully helps:

  • does anyone have any advice on how to play a 12 bar blues which contains the chords and licks played by one guitar and how you should go about practicing it. If you have any tab sheets that would be great too 😉
  • Chords should as the E7 I seem to struggle getting my little finger to the end of the D nearest the fret, it is always nearer C#. Also the pinky always seems to be the slowest in group into position? Any ideas on how best to practice this?
